Free & Reduced Price Meals Information

Families can apply for free or reduced-price school meals online. This can be done using the Department of Welfare’s online resource, COMPASS.

If you prefer not to apply online, you can access a paper application below.  If you apply for free or reduced-price school meals through COMPASS, you do not need to submit a paper application.

Application for Free and Reduced Price School Meals 2023-2024
File an Application Electronically
An application must be completed and approved each school year.  Eligibility from one school year is carried over into the next school year to allow time for families to re-apply.  If a new application has not been received and approved by the cut-off date of October 8, eligibility for the program is forfeited, and parents are responsible for meal charges incurred.

Applications can be submitted at any time during the school year.  Applications can be downloaded or submitted electronically by clicking the links above.  Applications are also available at your child’s school office.

Students approved for subsidized meals at another school district must provide verification of proof. An application must be completed and approved by HTCS.  If a member of your household receives Food Stamps or TANF Cash Assistance, your child is eligible for free meals but an application may still need to be provided to help us to register your child for benefits.  Questions concerning the application approval process should be addressed to the Business Manager 814-942-7835.

If your total household income is the same or less than the amounts indicated below, your child may be eligible to receive free or reduced-priced meals. (The reduced price is  $.40 for lunch.)
